Privacy Policy

Privacy Policy

This privacy policy describes the information we collect via the Urban Native Youth Association (UNYA) website, programs, and services, and how we collect and use that information.

This website uses cookies to obtain non-personal information from online visitors, and also collects information using Google Analytics. By continuing to use this website, you agree to our Privacy Policy, and to the collection of this information.

Cookies

UNYA may use “cookie” technology to obtain non-personal information from its online visitors. Cookies are information files that your web browser places on your computer when you visit a website. Most browsers accept cookies automatically, but can be configured not to accept them or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. UNYA does not extract personal information and does not attempt to disaggregate data that Google reports in aggregate in this process, nor do we provide this information to third parties. Cookies allow us to make our website experience more efficient and relevant to users.

Google Services

We use Google technologies to improve our website, and to better serve our visitors and clients. When you visit our website, your web browser automatically sends certain information to Google. This includes, for example, the web address of the page that you’re visiting and your IP address. Google may also set cookies on your browser or read cookies that are already there.

This website uses Google AdWords conversion tracking features on certain pages. If you contact us online, the destination page will have code on it that will help us understand the path taken to arrive on that page, which in turn will help us to continue to improve our website.

UNYA’s website uses Google Analytics and Google Analytics Advertising Features, which allows UNYA to enable features in Analytics that aren’t available through standard implementations, in order to better understand who our website users are. By enabling these features, Google Analytics is enabled to collect data about our website traffic via Google advertising cookies and identifiers, in addition to data collected through a standard Google Analytics implementation. Advertising features include:

  • Google Analytics Demographics and Interest Reporting
  • Integrated services that require Google Analytics to collect data for advertising purposes, including the collection of data via advertising cookies and identifiers

UNYA does not identify users or facilitate the merging of personally identifiable information with non-personally identifiable information collected through any Google advertising product or feature unless we have robust notice of, and the user’s prior affirmative (i.e., opt-in) consent to, that identification or merger, and are using a Google Analytics feature that expressly supports such identification or merger. Irrespective of users’ consent, at no time do we attempt to disaggregate data that Google reports in aggregate.

UNYA respects the privacy and personal information of its online visitors and recognizes that many website visitors are concerned about the information they provide.  UNYA does not collect personally identifiable information from individuals through the website unless this information is provided voluntarily and knowingly.

How you can control the information sent to Google

Here are some of the ways you can control the information that is shared by your web browser when you visit or interact with Google services on partners’ sites across the web:

  • Ads Settings helps you control the ads by Google that you see across the web. You can learn how ads are selected for you, opt out of Ads Personalization, and block specific advertisers. Learn more about advertising.
  • If you are signed in to your Google Account, and depending on your Account settings, you can see and edit some of the information we collect from the sites and apps you have visited.
  • Many sites across the web use Google Analytics to understand how visitors engage with their sites or apps. If you don’t want Analytics to be used in your browser, you can install the Google Analytics browser add-on. Learn more about Google Analytics and privacy.
  • Google makes it easy for you to make recommendations for your friends – for example, by clicking the +1 button on content you like. Some of your +1s may show your name and Google+ profile photo in ads, but you can opt out if you don’t want to appear in ads. You can also visit the +1 tab on your Google+ profile to review and manage all of your +1’s. Learn more about how to get to your +1 tab.
  • Incognito mode in Chrome allows you to browse the web without recording webpages and files in your browser history. Cookies are deleted after you’ve closed all of your incognito windows and tabs, and your bookmarks and settings are stored until you delete them. Learn more about cookies.

Information about services received, or client information acquired during services will not be shared with a parent, caregiver, partner, or sibling (unless the client has given us permission to do so).

Employees and volunteers share information with their Manager and sometimes other UNYA employees as a means of consultation in order to ensure the best possible care.

Employees are prohibited from using client information to their personal advantage.

Limits of Confidentiality:

  • If, at any time a client discloses abuse (physical, sexual, verbal and/or emotional) that has happened to them or another person (this disclosure could occur verbally or through text, email, social media or any other means), by law this abuse must be reported to the Ministry of Children and Family Development (for youth under 19).
  • If an employee or volunteer receives information (this information could be passed on verbally or through text, email, social media or any other means) indicating that there is a serious possibility that a client may harm themselves or others, the employee or volunteer must take reasonable action, which includes contacting the police and/or other responsible authorities.
  • During some legal processes, UNYA employees and/or volunteers and/or their records may be subpoenaed by the court.
