Aboriginal Youth First Sports & Rec

Move. Play. Lead. Belong.

Who We Are

AYF Sports & Rec supports Indigenous youth ages 11–24 with free, inclusive, and youth-led recreational activities. It’s a welcoming space to get active, learn new skills, make friends, and grow confidence — whether you’re just starting out or already a seasoned athlete.

  • This is just Try something new or build your skills — drop-in fitness, yoga, Ju-Jutsu, and kickboxing at our dojo
  • Play as a team —basketball practices open to all skill levels
  • Hit the slopes — join the First Nations Snowboard Team (ages 15–24, application required)
  • Grow as a leader — leadership and nutrition workshops designed to build confidence and knowledge
  • Explore new activities — based on what youth want, like rock climbing, lacrosse, or more basketball
  • Move with culture — take part in traditional dance, cultural movement, or nature walks with an Elder
  • Participation made easy — we provide all equipment, snacks, clothing, and bus tickets at no cost.

Our Approach

We focus on belonging, wellness, and self-determination. Guided by youth voices, cultural knowledge, and community partnerships, our goal is to support your whole self — mind, body, and spirit — in a space where you feel seen, supported, and celebrated.

AYF Sports & Rec is a drop-in program — no referral needed. Just reach out or show up! (Please note: some outings do require advance registration, and this will always be posted in advance!)
