Hey Youth! (12-15 Years)

If you are 12-15 years of age,
this is for you!

Looking for guidance, support, or just someone who’s there for you? UNYA’s Mentorship Program (ages 12–15) connect Indigenous youth with supportive, non-judgmental mentors.

You’ll spend 2–4 hours each week with your mentor for at least one year—doing activities you choose, like sports, arts, culture, or just hanging out. Your mentor can also help with things like trying new activities, connection to community, connection to culture, and develop positive relations. It’s all about having someone in your corner—listening, guiding, and supporting you – and having fun along the way.

What you’ll get

  • A caring, consistent mentor (role model, advocate, and friend)
  • 2–4 hours together weekly for at least one year
  • Enjoy fun, shared experiences with your mentor as you connect, learn, and grow together through visits to community centres, libraries, drop-in programs, outdoor spaces, or by simply spending time together.
  • Donated tickets to movies, theatre, sporting events and more
  • Access to monthly group activities planned by Mentorship Program Staff
  • Ongoing support and advocacy from UNYA staff

Who are the Volunteer Mentors

  • Our volunteer mentors are a diverse group with varied backgrounds and life experiences. While the youth in our program may self-identify as Indigenous, our mentors bring diversity in terms of their identities, education, jobs, and life stories.
  • It’s important to note that our volunteers are not youth workers or counselors. These dedicated individuals are here to serve as positive role models, assisting you in discovering your strengths, working towards your goals, and exploring the community together!
