Podcasting Mentorship with VIVO Media Arts Centre

April 18, 2019

Interested in learning how to tell your stories and get your voice heard?

VIVO Media Arts Centre is now accepting applications for a free youth podcasting mentorship, with local artists, journalists, and radio producers. The mentorship will run from Sunday, May 26th to Sunday, July 14th, 2019.

Application deadline is April 30, 2019.

The mentorship project is called ALT+SPACE+CONTROL: Vancouver Housing Stories. Participants will be supported to develop audio stories about housing insecurity in Vancouver, working with oral histories and recorded tentant interviews. You’ll use audio art, podcast, and radio techniques to explore the experience of renters in Vancouver.

All training, equipment used at VIVO, and technical support are provided for free.

At the end of the mentorship, VIVO will be hosting a free public event, and circulating the produced stories online, over radio, and in community space. Participants will receive a full artist fee for presenting these final stories.

The project culminates in a free public event at VIVO Media Arts Centre, and the stories will be circulated online, over radio, and in community spaces.
